Hello Everyone!
It is exciting that I can write to you and say that we are finally at the one year mark! (Through your love, prayers and support you are here too in a sense- hence the "we") It is hard to believe that I have been in Namibia for a whole year already! Though at times it feels like the days barely eke by, my overall time here is actually going quite quickly. I still haven't learned as much about the language or culture as I expected to, but I definitely learn something new every day!
Many of you are wondering if the annoying houseguest that I have is Sarah. I can assure you that she is not a problem or a worry at all! :-) She is actually a wonderful housemate and I enjoy having her there. The disgusting little creature that I am referring to is some kind of gross gecko (sorry to all you nature lovers) that got INTO MY HOUSE!!!! It started the day that Sarah told me she walked into the living room in the morning and saw it run under the couch. I couldn't sit on the couch that day until we moved it and made sure it wasn't under it any longer. Then he seemed to have disappeared for a few days. Thinking that he had slipped through the huge crack in the door jam back outside we taped off the door to prevent him from coming back in. It wasn't until several days later that I saw him dash under the chair that I realized Sarah's hard work of taping was all useless. Then, being the most amazing housemate ever, Sarah actually caught the gross little guy in an old butter dish and took him outside, far from the house! I told her that I knew the First Lady of Namibia (see my birthday email for that story if you don't know it) and that I was going to call her up to see if we could get a holiday named after her! Ha! Ha!
Well, as I write this email I am sitting in Windhoek getting ready to head to Kenya for almost 3 weeks. I am very much looking for the opportunity to see more of God's beautiful creation and get some rest away from home. I am also looking forward to the nursing conference that I will be attending. I am excited about being able to chat with other nurses practicing in the African setting. To fellowship and share ideas and struggles and to learn from their wisdom. I will probably not have email access until I return to Namibia on the 21st. I will write to you then to let you know how it was!
I love you all!
